 Nestled in the north-eastern region of the Republic of Singapore, Buangkok Green Medical Park (BGMP) is a tranquil, landscaped sprawling 25-hectare campus of the Institute of Mental Health (IMH). Celebrating the 80th anniversary in 2008, the IMH (formerly known as Woodbridge Hospital) is Singapore’s only tertiary psychiatric hospital and helms the nation’s integrated mental wellness programmes.
Offering a comprehensive range of services, the IMH reaches out to the nation’s primary groups – the children and adolescents, adults, and the elderly. It’s disciplines are focused through 7 clinical departments: (i) general psychiatry, (ii) child and adolescent psychiatry, (iii) Community psychiatry, (iv) Geriatric psychiatry, (v) Forensic psychiatry, (vi) Early psychosis intervention and (vii) Addiction medicine.
 Beyond medicine, the IMH is also equipped with modern facilities for patient-care. It houses 54 wards for inpatients and 3 Outpatient Specialist Clinics in addition to sub-specialties clinics. Approach to treatment and patient-care is multi-disciplinary in nature, supported by nursing, clinical psychology, occupational therapy and medical social work.
BGMP is a vibrant medical enclave within the community with grassroots activities and public engagement via the mental wellness educational outreach programmes. It is also an attraction for the public to the grounds with the Woodbridge Museum being an educational experience for visitors, and enterprises such as a traditional chinese medicine (TCM) group, F&B outlets, and a 24-hours convenience chain located within BGMP itself. Other establishments of social causes, acute care homes and hospices that set-up premises within the BGMP campus give the public opportunities to practice volunteerism or social responsibility.
BGMP is the choice location for the APPRC event, aptly held on the grounds of Singapore’s only mental health institution, and in conjunction with the Institute of Mental Health’s 80 years of establishment.
