The Asia Pacific Psychiatric Rehabilitation Conference (APPRC) will be held in conjunction with Institute of Mental Health (IMH) 80th Anniversary Celebrations. Under the theme “Transforming Lives – In Every Aspect of Our Work”, it will be highlighting on the principles that affect every aspect of work with patients with mental ailments. The conference will feature both global and local distinguished speakers who are all experts in their respective fields.
This event will be an excellent exchange of minds of representatives from different Ministries, hospitals, Voluntary Welfare Organizations, Advocacy groups from Singapore, Asia Pacific region and around the world. We will be reviewing all the topics and treatments in terms of pharmacological, psychological and social interventions for patients. The 2008 Singapore conference will allow us to review the 80 years of mental healthcare development and especially focussing on the recent years of extraordinary services developed that shaped the way mental-health care is being delivered to benefit patients and families. We will also take this opportunity to invite back all our ex –staff to share their experiences. We will also award those who have made landmark advances in the field of mental health. The importance of empowering and strengthening relationships with patients, partners and other professionals involved in the same industry will be highlighted. It will also be a great opportunity to learn from one another as well as to network with others in the field of psychiatry.
We will invite some leading overseas experts from USA, UK and the region to speak and lead symposiums on important topics. We have also lined up a series of events including an Open House to showcase the 80 years of history for mental health development and effective services in Singapore. |
